Stakeholder session
The AESO held a virtual stakeholder consultation session on September 13, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will be holding a second virtual stakeholder consultation session on September 26, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Invitation
Further to the July 22, 2022 Save the Date posted on the AESO website, the AESO is now providing Stakeholders with registration details for the Stakeholder consultation sessions on September 13, 2022 and September 26, 2022.
The AESO originally planned to conduct two separate sessions on September 13, 2022, offering Stakeholders the ability to attend the session that are of interest to them. After further consideration, the AESO has decided to merge the Stakeholder sessions 1 and 2 into a single all-day session because, in several instances, the aggregated facility topics are foundational to the understanding of the applicability and clarification of the technical ISO rules.
Stakeholder consultation session details
The AESO anticipates posting the session agenda, presentation for the September 13 Session, along with the AESO’s written responses to stakeholder comments, on September 2, 2022. The AESO recommends that Stakeholders review all materials in advance of the session.
If certain comments and questions were not sufficiently addressed by the AESO through written responses, or in the September 13 Session, Stakeholders are welcome to raise outstanding issues at the September 26 Open Forum Q&A.
The registration information for the Stakeholder consultation session are provided in the Invitation linked below.
Session 2 topics & agenda
On September 13, 2022, the AESO provided a survey link for Stakeholders to confirm the topics that they wish to discuss at Session 2 on September 26, 2022. Five Stakeholders responded to the survey and requested that the AESO review the following items:
- The proposed changes to Section 303.1, Load Shed Service for Imports to support the technology-agnostic provision of fast frequency response ("FFR") service, and related information on the AESO's FFR pilot procurement ("FFR Pilot"); and
- Market participation of co-located facilities that are metered and dispatched separately.
The AESO confirms that it will host Session 2 to review these two topics. Stakeholders are also invited to raise any other remaining questions related to the Energy Storage ISO Rule Amendments at Session 2.
The AESO is currently preparing a brief presentation, which will largely be a refresher of material from the February 24, 2021 Stakeholder Session.1 In the interim, an agenda is provided in the Session 2 Topics & Agenda Letter to help Stakeholders determine their attendance for Session 2.
Visit the Energy Storage Rule Amendments page for more information on this consultation.
