    AESO Media Briefing on Proposed Federal Clean Electricity Regulations (Media Materials)

    On September 28, the AESO hosted a news conference to explain its perspective on the federal government’s draft Clean Electricity Regulations (CER), including Alberta’s unique challenges related to decarbonization and reliability and affordability considerations.

    On September 28, the AESO presented information on the implications of the draft Clean Electricity Regulations on Alberta’s power system to a joint federal-provincial roundtable meeting.

    On Wednesday, Sept. 27, the AESO published a revised 2023 Long-Term Outlook (LTO) resource adequacy assessment modelling the proposed parameters of the draft CER. The results of the assessment indicate that the CER creates significant resource adequacy risk when it comes into effect in 2035.
