Operating Reserve Market Review
Operating Reserve Market Review Rule Amendments | AESO Engage
Please note that a new regulatory engagement on the Operating Reserve Market Review Rule Amendments is taking place on AESO Engage here.
Purpose and introduction
The purpose of this initiative is to assess opportunities to enhance competition and price fidelity in the existing Operating Reserve (OR) markets to improve efficiency.
At the highest level the market is functioning, but there are several design elements that are not performing in a way that promotes efficiency. Incremental change should be sufficient to address the concerns. Ensuring an efficient market design is essential, especially given the importance of OR both economically and operationally as the system and fleet evolve.
