The AESO wants to take this opportunity to thank stakeholders for their involvement, contribution and engaged dialogue in the 2021 Budget Review Process (BRP) engagement process. We appreciate and value the time and effort you have taken to prepare for and attend the sessions and provide detailed written feedback sharing your thoughts, insights and expertise. Your participation has helped the AESO to better understand your perspectives and aided us in developing the 2021 Business Plan and Budget.

On Nov. 18, 2020 those stakeholders who indicated their interest presented to the AESO Board on issues of disagreement or concern based on comments submitted in one of the earlier steps. The AESO Board considered stakeholder presentations and comments and the AESO replies to comments in its approval process of the Proposal. Aug. 11, 2020 Proposed Business Initiatives Session 1
Purpose of this session
The purpose of the session is to:
- Review the 2021 Budget Review Process (BRP)
- Present status updates on 2020 business initiatives
- Present, discuss and obtain stakeholder input on proposed 2021 business initiatives as identified by the AESO

Invitation and process materials
Purpose
The AESO commenced its 2021 BRP by extending an invitation to stakeholders who have an interest in participating in the BRP; this process and feedback received will be used to establish the AESO’s business plan and budget for 2021. Stakeholders were asked to provide their feedback on the 2021 BRP Terms of Reference, Process Steps, and Calendar and Schedule (“Process Materials”).
The intent of this BRP is to:
- Provide the AESO’s 2021 forecasts of Transmission Line Losses and Ancillary Services Costs;
- Consult on the Business Initiatives and Own Costs proposed for 2021; and
- Ensure the AESO Board is succinctly informed of the following to assist them in formalizing their Board Decision:
- The consideration and assessment of stakeholder feedback received throughout the process
- The AESO’s proposed budget and forecasts for 2021.
