Automated Dispatch and Messaging System ("ADaMS") Notice

Due to unforeseen technical issues, the implementation date of this change has been rescheduled to June 2, 2022.

The AESO will be implementing a change to dispatch instructions sent out through ADaMS, effective June 2, 2022.

Pool participants receive dispatches and directives in ADaMS from the AESO’s system controllers as part of activities to balance Alberta’s supply and demand and manage reliability. Currently, pool participants will receive a new dispatch or directive only when a dispatch or directive MW instruction level changes. A change in offer block price without a change in dispatch level is currently not sent or acknowledged in ADaMS and has caused the AESO technical issues in the back-end processes of the Dispatch Tool (DT) used by the AESO’s system controllers. This change is being implemented to address these technical issues.

Effective June 2, 2022, additional dispatch instructions will now be sent for instances where there is a change in the price of the highest in-merit block for an asset for the next hour but there is no change to a dispatch level in any service or directive.

These dispatches will include a description in the ‘Notes’ section of the ADaMS dispatch instruction as shown below. These dispatches will only be sent when there are no changes to any dispatched MW instruction levels and will show MW levels currently in-effect with no color highlights to the cell backgrounds for the MW dispatch/directive levels of each market or service.
